When does the Claude usage limit reset?

Like Codex, “Claude reset” covers two different things — your own rolling window, and the occasional global reset Anthropic announces publicly. This guide separates them using this site's own recorded history.
Global-reset totals via whenreset.app as of the latest build: Codex has 56 recorded global resets (last on 2026-10-26), plus 8 banked credits not counted in that cadence; Claude has 14 recorded global resets (last on 2026-10-21), plus 1 banked credit not counted in that cadence. These numbers are pulled fresh at build time, not typed into this guide by hand.
Your own rolling window vs. an announced reset
Claude Pro and Max both carry continuously rolling 5-hour and weekly usage windows tied to your own account. Check claude.ai's Settings > Usage page, or run /usage in Claude Code, for your personal numbers — this site has no visibility into any individual account.
Separately, Anthropic sometimes clears usage for a broader group of users at once, usually alongside a model release or a fix for a usage-related bug. Those announced events are what this site's Claude history page tracks, each one linked back to its source where a link exists.
Where the data comes from
This site checks public posts from Anthropic's official @ClaudeDevs account and members of the Claude Code team roughly every 20 minutes. The event count referenced at the top of this guide is pulled from the live build, not typed in by hand, so it reflects whatever has actually been recorded as of the most recent build — not a number that can quietly go stale.
Reading the “Applies to” column
Not every announced reset covers every plan. Some apply to all users, some are Max-only, and some target only accounts affected by a specific issue. The Claude history page's “Applies to” column reflects the wording of the original announcement — check it against your own plan before assuming a given entry covers you.
Why some rows have no source link
A handful of earlier entries were imported from public archives and only record the date and posting account, without a link to the original post. Anything detected in real time by this site's own tracking includes a source link.

When does Claude reset?

Is Claude Max reset on the same schedule as Pro?
Not always — some announcements cover both, others reset weekly limits for Max only. Check the “Applies to” column on each entry against your own plan rather than assuming parity.
