What is a usage limit reset?

Codex and Claude subscriptions both have rolling 5-hour and weekly usage limits. On top of that, the vendor occasionally clears everyone's usage manually and starts the clock over — usually after an incident, a bug fix, a new release, or a milestone. That manual clear-out is what this site tracks; it's a separate thing from the normal rolling window.

Where does this data come from?

From public posts by OpenAI Codex lead @thsottiaux, Anthropic's official @ClaudeDevs account, and members of the Claude Code team. A script checks these accounts every 20 minutes and records anything that announces a reset. Every row links to the original post.

How accurate is the reset-probability estimate?

The 24-hour/48-hour/7-day percentages and the typical-gap figure on this page are estimates, not predictions, computed from historical announcement intervals by whenreset.app (see /tools/reset-odds/ for a link and the full method) — this site and its sister trackers all read the same numbers from there so nobody publishes a different guess for the same question. Neither vendor has committed to a fixed cadence, so treat it as a rough reference — long stretches with no reset at all are common.

When does Codex reset usage limits today — where do I check?

Look at the top of this page: each product shows time since the last reset, plus the date and source link of the most recent official announcement. If today's date isn't in the record, no global usage limit reset has been announced yet today. ChatGPT Plus and Pro users should check the Codex column too — it's the same underlying limit.

Could a reset be missed?

Possibly — detection is keyword-based and we'd rather miss one than misclassify something else. If you spot an announcement that isn't listed, the upstream project howtok.net periodically reviews candidate posts.

Do banked resets count as a reset?

Not for the numbers on this page. A banked reset is saved to your account until you choose to use it or it expires, instead of clearing usage right away, so it's excluded from 'last reset', the typical-gap figure, and the reset-odds percentages — those are all global (immediate) resets only. A banked credit is still recorded: it shows in each product's timeline and history table, and counts toward the total events on record, just not the reset-cadence numbers.

Does the countdown start at the announcement, or once the reset actually lands?

The announcement — same clock as 'last reset <date>' and the time-since-reset counter everywhere else on this site. A reset can take a while to actually land in every account after it's announced; when we have real evidence of that gap, the event's own record shows both an 'Announced ...' time and a 'Delivered ...' time (and how much later delivery landed), but the site-wide countdown is deliberately anchored to the announcement, so it never jumps backward once delivery is later confirmed.
